Days later… Scott plopped his laundry basket down on a machine near some ladies and started digging through the basket. “Oh, man, I forgot the detergent!” He said out loud to himself. He went over to a vending machine to browse for some detergent.

As he did this, he noticed an attractive woman reading a book titled “Fun With Caricature”. He also noticed that she wasn't wearing a wedding ring. “Excuse me," He said. "They don’t have my regular detergent here, I have some grass stains on my jeans and I'm not sure which detergent to use. Can you help me pick one out?" She smiled saying, "Sure Babe, use the liquid Tide and as for the grass stains, I have some spray & wash you can use." Scott thought, “Wow she’s receptive… okay just relax and strike up a conversation with her.”

She went on to show Scott how to rub detergent on the stain. "By the way, my name is Scott. Hi, nice to meet you Scott, I'm Tina. Do you live nearby?" Scott said, “Yes, I live a few blocks over on Strieff.” He then explained that the washing machine at his place was on the fritz and that doing his laundry was overdue. Tina explained to him about using two or three washing machines and driers to speed up the process of doing laundry.

He complimented Tina on her efficiency and how fortunate he felt that she was here to advise him. Tina blushed a bit when Scott asked, “Is there anything I can do to make my cloths smell as good as you? Maybe you could add some fabric softener.” She replied.

He thanked Tina for all her help and asked if he could buy her lunch or a cup of coffee for her trouble. “No, I couldn’t.” She said.

Scott didn’t let her initial answer get him down as he continued the conversation. “I noticed you were reading “Fun With Caricature”, do you draw caricatures?” He asked. “Well, I’m learning how to, it’s something I’ve always had an interest in doing.” Replied Tina.

Scott asked Tina more about herself, what she does for fun, what movies or bands she likes, what her favorite types of food are and so on. Tina in turn asked Scott many of the same questions. They had a pleasant conversation as Tina finished folding another load of laundry. Their conversation went on for another 20 minutes.

He was surprised to find out that she wasn't seeing anyone (after all she was attractive).

Again Scott asked. “I really do wish you’d let me buy you lunch, it would be my way of paying you back for your help and the use of your spray & wash. I’ll even let you practice drawing caricatures by being your subject!”

Tina replied by saying, “Would you really be my Ginny pig? How sweet of you but you must promise not to laugh at my drawings.” Scott replied, “I thought caricature was supposed to be funny.” “You’re right, it is.” She said, “Let me give you my cell phone number. I can’t do lunch today, is tomorrow okay?” Tina gave Scott her number with a smile as she packed up the rest of her laundry and the book she was reading. “I’ll call you in the morning.” Scott said. Tina replied, “Okay, talk to you tomorrow.”

Scott’s heart skipped a beat as she accepted his invitation to lunch.
